Does any of this sound familiar?
You've got a LinkedIn profile, but you're not entirely sure what to do with it.
You enjoy reading other people's posts but feel uncomfortable putting yourself out there.
You'd like to expand your professional network but feel awkward connecting with people you haven't met.
You're interested in career or leadership opportunities but aren't sure how LinkedIn could help.
You've wondered what to post, who to tag or whether you should be commenting more often.
You're concerned about privacy, confidentiality, professional boundaries or how your posts might be perceived.
You're already using LinkedIn but would like to be more intentional about how you spend your time on it.
If any of these sound familiar, I'd love you to join me.
What will we explore?
This isn't a technical tutorial where I'll spend 90 minutes showing you which buttons to click.
Instead, we'll look at practical examples, explore some of the unwritten rules of LinkedIn and consider how you can use the platform in ways that align with your professional identity, values and goals.
1. Where are you in your LinkedIn journey?
Whether you're a complete beginner, a quiet observer or someone who regularly posts and engages, we'll explore where you're currently at, what might be holding you back and what you'd like to achieve.
2. What do you stand for?
What matters to you professionally? What are your values, interests and areas of expertise?
We'll explore how your professional identity can guide the way you present yourself, connect with others and contribute to conversations on LinkedIn.
3. Your LinkedIn profile
What does your profile communicate about you?
We'll discuss profile photographs, headlines, About sections and ways to present your professional experience, qualifications and interests.
And yes, we'll have a little fun exploring what NOT to do with your LinkedIn profile photograph!
4. Networking without the awkwardness
Should you connect with someone you've never met? What should you say when someone accepts your connection request?
We'll explore networking etiquette, developing meaningful professional relationships, tagging and connecting with people beyond your immediate workplace or sector.
5. Career opportunities and professional development
LinkedIn is much more than a job board.
We'll explore how it can help you discover career pathways, research organisations, learn from others, identify leadership opportunities and expand your professional connections.
6. Posting, commenting and finding your professional voice
Do you need to post regularly to benefit from LinkedIn?
We'll explore different ways to participate, including posting, commenting and engaging with professional conversations.
We'll also discuss the algorithm, communicating with purpose and finding an approach that feels appropriate for you.
7. Professional boundaries and ethical considerations
As helping professionals, we have responsibilities around confidentiality, privacy and professional conduct.
We'll explore ethical considerations, professional boundaries, employer expectations and ways to make thoughtful decisions about what you share and how you engage.
Who is this masterclass for?
Let's Talk LinkedIn has been designed for helping professionals at different stages of their careers, including:
Social workers, counsellors, psychologists and allied health professionals

What will you take away?
By the end of the masterclass, you'll have had the opportunity to:
Reflect on your current relationship with LinkedIn and what might be holding you back
Develop greater clarity about your professional identity, values and interests
Identify opportunities to strengthen your LinkedIn profile
Explore practical ways to develop meaningful professional connections
Understand different approaches to posting, commenting and engaging

For me, professional development should offer more than information to listen to. It should also create opportunities to reflect, consider different perspectives and identify what you might do differently afterwards.
That's the approach I'll be bringing to Let's Talk LinkedIn.
Hi, I'm Jazmin!
I'm an AASW-registered social worker, professional supervisor, founder of Jazmin Pursell Consulting and host of the Not Another PD podcast.
I hold a Master of Social Work and a Master of Mental Health, and my professional experience spans counselling and therapy, child protection, disability, mental health, education, professional supervision and leadership.
I've worked with people across the lifespan through direct counselling and therapy practice, and I've also taught and supervised in the Master of Counselling program at Edith Cowan University.
Much of my work involves supporting helping professionals and leaders to reflect on their professional identity, navigate career decisions, clarify their values and develop professionally.
I've been using LinkedIn since approximately 2019, although I certainly didn't start out feeling confident about it!
When I first heard about LinkedIn as a social work student, I genuinely wondered whether it was some kind of Tinder for professionals.
I wasn't particularly enthusiastic about the idea of strangers knowing where I'd worked or having access to information about my professional background.
Eventually, I joined and spent quite some time quietly observing what other people were doing.
Since then, LinkedIn has become a valuable part of my professional life.
I've developed relationships with professionals across different sectors, been approached about employment opportunities, received enquiries about my services and connected with people I might otherwise never have met.
I'm not here to promise you'll suddenly have thousands of followers or become a LinkedIn influencer.
I want to help you understand how LinkedIn might be useful to you, whatever stage of your professional journey you're at, and how you can use it in ways that reflect your professional values, responsibilities and goals.

Is this suitable for experienced professionals and leaders?
Yes. We'll explore how LinkedIn can support professional networking, leadership development, career progression and contributing to conversations relevant to your sector.
Can I ask questions?

Does any of this sound familiar to you?
Have you ever found yourself thinking:
"I've got a LinkedIn profile, but I hardly ever use it."
"I don't know what I'd even post about."
"What if I say something and people disagree with me?"
"I feel awkward connecting with people I don't know."
"I'm worried about what my employer or colleagues might think."
"I don't want to share too much personal information online."
"I see other professionals using LinkedIn, but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing."
"I'd like to build my professional network, but I don't know where to start."
You're certainly not alone.
And here's something I want you to know: you don't have to become someone you're not to benefit from LinkedIn.
You can be thoughtful, reserved, curious, experienced, new to the profession, working in government, running a private practice or considering a career change.
There's no single correct way to use LinkedIn.
What matters is understanding how the platform can support your professional goals and finding an approach that aligns with your values and responsibilities.
We are busting the myth that tells us that…
LinkedIn is only yourself for finding your next job.
When people think about LinkedIn, they often think about job advertisements, recruitment and professional profiles.
But there are so many other ways it can be useful.
You might use LinkedIn to connect with professionals working in areas you're interested in, learn about emerging issues in your sector, discover professional development opportunities or contribute to conversations about topics you're passionate about.
Perhaps you're interested in moving into leadership, exploring a different area of practice or building connections outside your current organisation.
Or maybe you're a private practitioner wanting to develop relationships with other professionals.
You don't necessarily need to be actively looking for a new job to benefit from being on LinkedIn.
Sometimes, the opportunities we discover come through the professional relationships we've developed over time.
What we’ll explore in this masterclass together:
This isn't a marketing or sales course, and it isn't a technical tutorial where I'll spend the session showing you which buttons to click.
Instead, we'll explore the practical, professional and ethical considerations involved in using LinkedIn, with examples and reflective activities throughout.
-
We'll begin with a self-assessment to help you identify where you're currently at.
Perhaps you've never used LinkedIn. Maybe you've created a profile but haven't completed it, or you're someone who regularly reads posts without engaging.
You might already be posting and connecting with people but feel uncertain about your approach.
We'll also explore some of the beliefs and concerns that might be holding you back.
-
Who are you as a professional, and what would you like others to understand about you?
We'll explore how your values, professional interests, experience and goals can guide how you present yourself and engage with others.
You don't need to have a perfectly defined career pathway to begin developing your professional identity.
-
What does your profile communicate about you?
We'll discuss the importance of your profile photograph, headline, About section and how you describe your professional experience.
We'll also have a little fun exploring examples of profile photographs and what they might communicate!
-
Have you ever wondered whether it's appropriate to connect with someone you've never met?
Or perhaps you've received a connection request from someone you don't know and weren't sure whether to accept it.
We'll discuss LinkedIn networking etiquette, connecting with others, professional relationships and ways to engage beyond your immediate workplace.
-
LinkedIn can be useful whether you're actively job searching or simply curious about what opportunities might exist.
We'll explore how you can use it to learn about organisations, discover different career pathways, connect with leaders and expand your understanding of the sector.
-
We'll explore different ways to engage with other professionals on LinkedIn, including commenting, sharing posts and contributing to conversations that are relevant to your professional interests.
-
For helping professionals, this is particularly important.
We'll explore confidentiality, privacy, professional conduct, organisational expectations and the boundaries between our personal and professional lives.
We'll also consider how to make thoughtful decisions about what you share, how you communicate and how your professional responsibilities apply online.
Who should attend?
This masterclass is suitable for helping professionals at different stages of their careers, including:
Social workers
Counsellors and psychotherapists
Psychologists
Allied health professionals
Students and graduates
Practitioners considering career progression or new opportunities
Aspiring and established leaders
Private practitioners and business owners
Professionals wanting to develop meaningful networks and contribute to sector conversations
Whether you're completely new to LinkedIn or already use it regularly, there will be opportunities to reflect on how you use the platform and what you might like to do differently.
What will you walk away with?
By the end of our time together, you'll have had the opportunity to:
Identify where you're currently at in your LinkedIn journey
Reflect on beliefs and concerns that may be holding you back
Develop greater clarity about your professional identity and values
Consider improvements to your LinkedIn profile
Explore ways to connect and engage with other professionals
Better understand how LinkedIn might support your career and professional development
Consider ethical and professional boundaries when using the platform
Develop realistic next steps that suit your individual goals
My aim isn't for you to leave feeling that you need to do everything on LinkedIn.
It's for you to leave with greater clarity about what's relevant to you and how you might put it into practice.
What have participants said about my previous training?
I know that when you're considering attending professional development, it's helpful to hear from people who have already participated in training delivered by the facilitator.
Through Jazmin Pursell Consulting, I aim to deliver professional development that is practical, engaging and relevant to the realities of working in helping professions.

If we haven’t yet met, I’m Jazmin.
I'm an AASW-registered social worker, professional supervisor, founder of Jazmin Pursell Consulting and host of the Not Another PD podcast.
I hold a Master of Social Work and a Master of Mental Health, and my professional experience includes counselling and therapy, mental health, child protection, disability, education, leadership and professional supervision.
I've worked directly with clients across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults and older adults, and I've also taught and supervised in the Master of Counselling program at Edith Cowan University.
A significant part of my work involves supporting helping professionals and leaders with their professional development, identity, values, boundaries and career decisions.
My own LinkedIn journey didn't start particularly confidently!
I first heard about LinkedIn around 2019, when a careers adviser at Monash University encouraged me to create a profile.
At the time, I genuinely wondered whether LinkedIn was some kind of Tinder for professionals!
I wasn't particularly enthusiastic about the idea of strangers being able to see where I'd worked or learn about my professional background.
Eventually, I joined, but I spent quite some time quietly observing what other people were doing.
Over time, my perspective changed.
LinkedIn has helped me develop meaningful professional connections, learn from people working in different sectors, discover opportunities and build relationships with people I might never otherwise have met.
It's also contributed to opportunities connected with my business, professional work and podcast.
Between July 2025 and July 2026, my LinkedIn content generated more than 132,000 impressions and reached approximately 46,800 members, according to my LinkedIn analytics.
But I don't believe those numbers are the most important measure of whether LinkedIn is useful.
For me, the value is in the relationships, conversations, professional learning and opportunities that can develop from being part of a professional community.
And that's what I want to help you explore.
You don't need to be a marketing expert to participate in professional conversations on LinkedIn.
You can approach it as the professional you already are.
