Introducing you to the..
Not Another PD Podcast
Professional Development… Not Really.
Not Another PD Podcast is where helping professionals finally get real, practical conversations about the work, without the checkbox culture, the quarterly tokenistic wellbeing talk, or the ‘just self-care more’ advice no one asked for.”
Hosted by Jazmin Pursell, Registered Social Worker (AASW), supervisor, boundaries educator, and self-proclaimed Boundaries Queen.
This podcast explores the topics our profession loves to whisper about but rarely tackles head-on: boundaries, burnout prevention, ethical practice, and the actual purpose of supervision.
If you’ve ever thought, “Surely PD could be… better than this?” welcome to the Not Another PD Podcast, where new episodes are released weekly on a Friday morning before work.
Here’s What We’re Actually Talking About
Helping professionals today are carrying more than ever: complex caseloads, constantly increasing KPIs, systemic pressures, psychosocial hazards, unrealistic workloads, vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, blurred boundaries, emotional labour — and a culture that quietly rewards overworking and self-sacrifice.
This podcast is your “no” to burnout and the culture of overgiving to everyone except yourself.
Each episode explores themes that sit at the heart of helping-professional wellbeing, including:
Burnout prevention and burnout recovery
Setting boundaries at work that actually hold
Managing high caseloads without losing yourself
What meaningful, reflective supervision really looks like
Navigating toxic workplace culture and unrealistic KPIs
Psychosocial hazards and workplace wellbeing
Difficult conversations, leadership, and communication
Creating a sustainable career in the helping professions
Nothing generic. Nothing patronising. Just real, practical strategies that support long-term wellbeing and healthier boundaries.
Meet Your Host — Jazmin Pursell
I’m Jazmin, Registered Social Worker (AASW), supervisor, boundaries educator, and someone who has spent more than a decade working in government and community sectors where burnout, workload overwhelm, and unrealistic KPIs are common.
I’ve supported countless practitioners navigating workplace stress, overgiving, people-pleasing, ethical dilemmas, and the emotional load of the work. After seeing too many brilliant helpers reach breaking point, I created this podcast to bring the conversations our profession should have been having all along.
I’m not here to give you surface-level advice.
I’m here to help you protect your time, honour your limits, and build a sustainable career that doesn’t cost you your wellbeing.
The Voices You’ll Hear From
Because Real Conversations Deserve Real Experts. Not Tokenistic Panels
Instead of the usual polished, HR-approved commentary, you’ll hear from:
Social workers
Psychologists
Counsellors
Exercise Physiologists
Kinesiologists
Leadership coaches
Supervisors
Mental health practitioners
Disability and NDIS professionals
Guests who actually get burnout, unrealistic KPIs, vicarious trauma, emotional overload, toxic culture, tricky team dynamics, and the realities of doing this work in the real world.
These aren’t surface-level interviews.
They’re honest, grounded, and sometimes confronting conversations about what actually helps.
